Given Livejournal's recent tendency to go down and especially the latest ongoing DDOS attack, I've decided to compile a small list of resources and to help my fellow LJ deprived users and roleplayers to (temporarily) migrate to Insanejournal.
[ICON UPLOADERS]
→ Insanejournal Userpic Uploader: For Windows users, and my personal choice for a massive upload tool. It's pretty easy to use, too.
1. Download the .RAR file;
2. Make a folder with the icons you want to upload; [IMPORTANT: once uploaded, your icons will be keyworded after whatever you named your icon files. You can always change them later, though.]
3. Extract the .RAR files into said folder;
4. Open the upl file and insert your IJ account username and password;
5. PROFIT Watch it upload your icons for you with a single click!
→ Mac Userpic Uploader: For Mac users, obviously. It comes with an image-heavy detailed tutorial, so it should be pretty easy to figure out.
→ Journal Watcher: An off site uploader, in case you don't want to download anything. You can transfer icons directly from one account to another with it. [IMPORTANT: requires registration.]
[EXTRAS]
Also, to any Firefox users reading this, there are a couple of add-ons you can use to make your life easier.
Down Them All: A massive image download add-on, and a pretty useful alternative to manually saving icons from a previously existing account. It saves images into a single folder, which is a requirement for the first two icon uploaders I listed.
Adblock Plus: What it says in the box; this add-on blocks all those annoying ads you see everywhere on IJ. It's in no way a replacement for all our shiny paid accounts, but it's a nice addition.
